Today is Fathers Day, and it brings to my mind how many Dads out there who are striving and learning to be a good Dad. I Love being a Dad, and know God has blessed me to to Steward and Protect the Children he has trusted me with. To Raise them and Train them in “the fear and admonition of the Lord.”
But I also know I don’t always get it right, so I continually seek my heavenly Father who guides me and steers me as I seek to be a good Dad.
So hear are a couple things you Dads can hang on to and hopefully remember as you seek to being a Good Dad, each day. I know it’s hard, but we all know it’s worth it.

1. Learn from your Father, so you can Teach them.
My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3:1-4 NKJV)

The Key to teaching is Learning. And one of the Best ways to be a Good Dad is to always Learn from our Heavenly Father, that way we have the resources and strength to teach our children what is right, not just what seems best to us.
For Dads, we should be a better Christian before we walk out the front door, than we ever are in the world. Finding Favor with God is the same is our children finding favor with us, just listening to what we say, then doing it. When our children see us listening to God, they have a tendency to Listen to us as well.

2. Teach Them what you know, not just in words but what you do with them.
Saying, we Love are kids must be coupled with showing them. That means taking time off, having fun and making sure they have good memories of a Good Dad.
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold. Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:1, 6 NKJV)

I can’t say it enough, your children will Love what you Love. Show them you Love them not by what you give them, but what you do with them. Don’t seek just to give them what you didn’t have, and forget to give them what you did have. Time is the one thing money can’t buy.

3. Love them enough to Correct them, but Discipline with Why, not just what.
Often times we just seek Behavior Modification, not Life Transformation.

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4 NKJV)

Our Children will Rebel, when they don’t understand “why” we want them to do something. That’s how we provoke them. Children are always learning, and no opinion matters more to a child than that of their Dad, so make sure you explain “what” you are teaching them and “why” it’s important. That correction is for there good not their destruction.

Discipline your son, for there is hope; do not set your heart on putting him to death. (Proverbs 19:18 ESV)

4. Patience, Protection, Provide.
Our children depend on us the way we depend on God. For our Life, for our welfare, for our care and for our protection.
Being a Dad is tough, especially today and don’t think the Bible doesn’t work, or if you just do “the right thing” it will work out. More often than not, must trying our best, gets the best we can do. But Gods best is what he intended. He just asks us to Listen.
Think about it, as much as you do being a Dad. What do you want for your children?
The Answer: THE VERY BEST!
And that is what God has given us Dads, in Jesus. A Father giving his only Son so we can all be adopted in that Family! Awesome. Let’s treat our kids just like our Father treats us. It won’t be easy, it wasn’t for our Dads, but we all know it’s worth it.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (John 3:17 ESV

I just wanted to give you guys a quick snapshot of what Jesus is doing in his church.
We celebrated the resurrection and redemptive work of Jesus this past Easter Sunday @the Fort!

It was the first time we were able to have 2 Services and our Volunteers were amazing!

It took over 150 volunteers, in two shifts to serve over 350 children in theFort Kidz.
We had so many new children see, here and experience Jesus for the 1st time!

In two services we were able to serve over 200 new guests, friends and family!
God gave us the opportunity to share the Gospel with a total of 797 people hearing the Easter story and Gospel of Jesus Christ!

And Jesus saved 61 people!

That’s amazing! And we are so thrilled at what lies ahead!
What an amazing day, and thank you to everyone for your selfless service to honor Jesus and give him our very best because he has given us his!

Remember every number has a name, every name has a story and every story matters to God.

Jesus has truly made us unBroken!

See you all this Sunday, which will be the best Sunday yet!

Overwhlemed? By what I trust.

Posted: January 7, 2013 in Fort

“The Familiar is easy.” A simple statement, but one that for many of us can lead to a life that is Overwhelmed!
In life we trust! We trust people, possessions and prosperity, but what happens when those let us down? Do we just stay on the wheel and the endless cycle of despair, disappointment and distrust?

The answer is yes! It seems we tend to let our past determine our future because the world tells us these are the things we need!If I can just get a new house, or new car or new clothes or a new relationship. Then things will finally turn around! Only to find out that once again it doesn’t work!

The Bible calls worship of anything other than God Idolatry. A tough word but one we have figured out how to manipulate! You see for many of us the life that is Overwhlemed kind of creeps up on us. It’s not intentional, we don’t “mean” to worship things it just kind of happened!

Then when our world is spinning we tend to blame God or ask him why! You see for many people, worship is not a problem, we worship God, go to church, do good …………..AND persue prosperity, selfishness greed and gain. After all doesn’t God want us to be happy and have nice things? Sure he does! But not at the expense of our relationship with him!

Syncretism /ˈsɪŋkrətɪzəm/ is the combining of different (often seemingly contradictory) beliefs, often while melding practices of various schools of thought. Syncretism may involve the merger and analogising of several originally discrete traditions, especially in the theology and mythology of religion, thus asserting an underlying unity and allowing for an inclusive approach to other faiths.

Our answer to worship is just to worship Both!

But it’s a lie, and tricks us into a conflicting form of worship! Jesus said it this way.

No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” (Luke 16:13 ESV)

And this is where we find ourselves overwhelmed!

Trying to Worship more than one thing will lead us to elevating one over the other!
And God doesn’t compete. Though our understanding is limited of him he completely understands us. He put in us a desire to worship, we just lose track and let that worship only effect us forgetting about him. His Work. And his Purpose in us!

Let me make this clear, it is never wrong to have nice things and persue a good life. It is not wrong to work hard and recieve your wages. It is not wrong to always persue to be better and do more. God placed that drive in us, the Bible even says: ” If a man won’t work he ought not eat”.

But worshipping two things is a road of destruction and despair and leaves us overwhelmed! Look back at your life and realize what’s important. Jesus, Family, friends and time. These are what are truly valuable and each is a gift from God. Be thankful by worshipping him first and allowing him to add all the rest to that!

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33 ESV)

Let’s start this New Year, with a New Year. Not Overwhlemed with Life! But Overwhelmed with Jesus. Makes all the difference in the world!

A Season of Thankfulness

Posted: November 19, 2012 in Fort
Tags: , , ,

This is the time of year we all look forward to! A time when family gets to spend time together! We get to celebrate, eat, watch football, and just enjoy those in our lives who mean the most. I know that we are to be grateful for everyday, as God tells us. We are thankful, and this season is a time when we really are able to show and express to others how thankful we truly are!

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name. (1 Chronicles 29:11-13 ESV)

God is the giver of ALL things and as his church we are truly Thankful to be his people, in his kingdom, having the assurance that all we do is his and he is fully aware of who we are!

So I wanted to share with you a few things coming up that theFort church will celebrate and show our thankfulness to Jesus! And HIS people, and HIS great work in our lives!

1. This thanksgiving may be harder on some, more than others! So our food and clothing bank will be in High gear providing for families who may need some love and generosity this Holiday season!
If you know of a family in need please contact us and let us know how we can serve them!
If you are blessed with an abundance please give to other so they can experience the generosity of Jesus through you! Remember you may be one person in the world, but you may be the whole world to one person, look for ways to serve this season and let’s be “the hands and feet” to those in need!

2. Holiday Celebration! We will come together and enjoy a meal together “giving thanks to Jesus! For all he is, and enjoying each other and inviting others to be in community with Jesus. December 16th immediately after the 10:30am service we will have a community wide lunch. So make sure you sign up to bring a side dish and invite someone to meet Jesus, and tell them lunch is on you that day! It’s @the mission Campus and will be a great time to enjoy each other and serve others! I can’t wait!

3. The Mission Campus will launch “Cross Training” on Wednesday nights @6:30 starting the 1st Wednesday of 2013! We are excited God has given us a 2nd campus to serve him from and will Launch this exciting new time to gather! This will be a Discipleship Service that focuses on us knowing God more and learning from His word to grow and reach others with a firm foundation in His word and building our confidence of His work through us! Make sure you put this night on your calendar!

4. New Sermon Series!
This for me is so exciting! Starting in December we will start a 4 week Christmas Series titled: HOPE. THE Christmas Story! We all know how editing Christmas is because we all “Hope” for presents! God has given us his greatest gift in JESUS! So we will look at the true Hope that Christmas brings!

“Overwhelmed!” Starting January 2013 we will look at the topic we all face! Being Overwhelmed! We all face it and God knows we are all guilty of feeling overwhelmed! But Gods word says:” HE has a peace that surpasses ALL understanding!” and he is calling us to trust him, not just the busyness of Life! Please join us as we turn to God and his answer to a life that is ABUNDANT! Not just Busy!

5. Last but not Least! As we show our thankfulness to Jesus this season, I want you to know how thankful we are as a church for YOU!

I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints, and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ. (Philemon 1:4-6 ESV)

We have seen over 100 people move from death to life this year! Placing faith in Jesus Christ and learning to live the new Life he has in store for each of us. And each day we grow God continues to raise up his people, YOU, to serve and be generous to reach our community and those around the world with the “Good News” that Jesus is the hope of the world, and it’s Savior. Without your selfless giving of your time, talents and treasures this wouldn’t have been Possible. So I thank Jesus for his Spirit through you! And am as excited as ever for what he has in store for us in the days ahead!

I think that’s all I can put in here, but we truly have so much to be Thankful For! So everyone have a great Thanksgiving day! For those that are traveling we pray protection over you and your Families and Thank Jesus for his great work in Our lives! See you soon!

Pastor Adam.

1. It is a 2nd Campus.
Many have asked us: ” Is the church moving?” No! The church is growing! That’s a big deal!
As we continue to grow we need more times to gather than just at the school on Sunday. So we will still gather at Mt Olive for our main worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30am. This 2nd Campus allows us to operate our offices, food/clothing banks, and community events.

2. It’s located in our mission field.
With all the new growth but lack of infrastructure within our part of the County, this building is truly a God send. It’s the former Sunderland Baptist Church building located at 124 Hwy 165, 3 miles from our current main campus.

3. It’s available to Everyone.
This new Campus will be staffed and operated by the Next level of Leadership at the church. That means it creates new opportunities to be on mission to everyone. Everyone has access to it and it’s owned by the owners of theFort church! You!

4. It’s a Mission Campus.
That means it provides us with a launching pad for mission, not just a parking lot for ministry! We are a missional church which means we Say & Show the Gospel outside our church walls.

5. It’s Intentional.
We are closing down theOutpost (where our offices are currently located). This will give us an opportunity to Steward the cost we currently have directly into our mission field. So basically we will be able to directly focus our efforts more direct and intentionally within our mission field.

6. It’s for Discipleship.
We will begin a mid-week discipleship Service. This will be completely different than Sunday mornings. We have so many servants who are giving and teaching and serving each week to make a portable church operate. This takes an extreme amount of work, and we aren’t healthy if we only give out without taking in. This service will be a very relaxed environment to learn and grow in our walk with Jesus! Also it will give us another opportunity to introduce people to Jesus.

7. It’s for Community.
Meeting for a couple of hours once a week is great! Being on mission together every day is better.
So at this Campus there will be many more Opportunities to meet and grow during the week. Also Serving the community by being Generous and giving back as much as we have been given. As we grow our Community will grow and be changed by Jesus! Small groups, training and outreach events are a big part.

8. It’s for Communicating.
From Children’s to iServe, this Campus will be for more than just on the job training. As we develop and implement new Services and curriculum, this Campus will be a training hub for us to be sent and always on mission!

9. It’s not just a Church it’s THE CHURCH
Jesus loves his church and we do too! From the very beginning our goal has not been just to build a big church, but to be the Church. So multi-site is our only option. We want to take the Gospel to the world not just bring people to us! This is THE CHURCH!

10. It’s all about Jesus.
Jesus is the Senior Pastor, the Planter and the Power behind all we do. We will take faith risks to serve him. It’s not always comfortable or easy, but as long as there are those we can reach we will follow Jesus where he takes us and how he takes us to reach everyone he has called us to.

I’m as excited as I’ve ever been to see Jesus grow His Church. I hope you are too! God has given us an opportunity to grow for his glory, and we will do whatever he asks, however he wants!
The main thing is you be involved! Don’t just hear about it, be about it! We Love Jesus, We Love You and We Love The Church

Pastor Adam.

proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance. (Acts 28:31 ESV)

The Gospel of Jesus Christ has stretched across History. No matter what you’re opinion is the “Good news” of Jesus Christ has redefined, changed and altered history like no other.

The Book of Acts is the bridge between what Jesus has accomplished and the work he has for us to do. Now for most of us mentioning the word “Work” has a little sting to it. It’s like saying: ” oh no not something else to do, I’m so busy already I can’t handle any more. That’s why I don’t go to church now, I just don’t have time for anything else.” To be honest I hear this a lot, and at one time in my life held the very same view.

But this verse of Scripture paints a different story. The very last word in the Book of Acts, literally says “Unhindered”. So the story of Jesus doesn’t have limits, or qualifications or stipulations! It’s Unhindered!

So practically for us what does that mean?

1. Jesus crosses all boundaries.

Jesus Christ took everyone’s Sin to the Cross. Meaning: ” we who were once far off have been brought near by the Blood of Jesus!” WE!……Everyone!
So for us there is no one we can’t reach to tell about Jesus! There is no one to bad, too much of a Sinner, too far gone, too dirty, too clean, too right or too wrong. We have ALL been purchased with a price and that truth is unhindered!

2. Jesus alone saves.

The Gospel is unhindered because Jesus work is complete!
We too often misunderstand Church as a place where perfect people go. Or Good people who are basically hypocrites but believe that by going to church, somehow it can make them be better or experience more success , or be happier. And to the churches fault, we have helped by into this idea by preaching on “Self-Help” & “Success” or “Happiness”. Even producing and funding ministries hat n,y benefit those inside “their” church and no one else! No wonder America is skeptical of the church, falsely thinking the church only cares about itself!
But an Unhindered Gospel is all about Jesus! He is the head of the church, He will build the church, He is the power of the Church , and he alone saves those within His church.
It’s Unhindered! We can’t stop what he’s doing, at best we can get in the way!

3. Jesus Gospel forms our Identity.

I have experienced what it means to be Religious. In fact outside of Sin, Jesus preached against religious people more than anything else. Because attempting to obtain our identity by a standard of rules will hinder us from experiencing Grace and founding our Identity in Jesus. But the story of Jesus is unhindered!
Fighting to maintain a status quo or attempting to do good deeds to please God only hinder our walk with him.
Being Religious will either lead us to be depressed or Arrogant. If we can somehow maintain a false view that we are good, we become arrogant because, we want people to see:”hey! Look how good I am!” but most often we find ourselves making mistakes and face depression because we feel like we can never be “good enough” for God to like me!
But the story of Jesus is totally different and unhindered! God is already pleased in You as his child! But he is not pleased with the Sin and wrong in our life! But he loves us so much, instead of Giving us the Punishment that we deserve he took that upon himself to offer us forgiveness!

The story is simple! There is no one that Gospel can’t reach! It’s Unhindered! There is nothing we can do more for God and nothing less! The only hindrance we will ever experience is believing this life is the best we will ever have! That doesn’t hinder God because he knows different. But it will forever hinder us from experiencing the full life Jesus came to bring us.

Why live life limited by our own view and Self worth? Why not live a life of Jesus? Unhindered and free? It’s a gift for you that’s unlimited! What’s stopping you from living that life today?

Pastor Adam.
